Asteroid Impact Simulator & Kinetic Energy Calculator
Asteroid Launcher on Adarsh.fun is a scientific astrophysics simulation tool based on the Earth Impact Effects research by Gareth Collins, H. Jay Melosh, and Robert Marcus. Select impact coordinates anywhere on the global map and calculate the precise catastrophic consequences of near-Earth object collisions.
Astrophysical Scaling Equations
- Kinetic Energy: $E_k = \frac{1}{2} m v^2$, where asteroid mass is calculated from diameter ($L$) and density ($\rho$).
- Transient Crater Diameter: Scaled by projectile density, target rock density, impact velocity, gravity ($g = 9.81\text{ m/s}^2$), and impact angle ($\sin \theta$).
- Thermal Radiation & Overpressure: Computes the fireball radiative flux, peak overpressure shockwave blast radius, and supersonic wind velocity.
